Sasmira’s Institute of Design and Textile (SIDT), previously known as Sasmira’s Education and Training Program (SETP) is one of the top most institutes for design studies and has a vast experience in imparting training programs in the areas of Fashion, Textile, Merchandising and sustainability Studies through various part-time, full time degree & diploma programs as well as customized courses. SIDT is the only institute to offer Bachelor of Design (B. Des.) programs in collaboration with the University of Mumbai’s Garware Institute of Career Education & Development (UM-GICED). The B.Des Programs have two specializations- Bachelor of Design (B. Des.) in Fashion Designing & Bachelor of Design (B. Des.) in Textile Designing. SIDT admissions for B. Des and PGD are based on entrance exams conducted at the institute. In contrast, admission to diploma and certificate courses is direct.

The admission process is as follows:

  1. Candidates are required to fill the application form through the SIDT Website
  2. They are then required to appear for the entrance exam conducted at the institute called GICED (only for B.Des and PGD programs).
  3. Shortlisted candidates will be notified and are required to verify the documents.
  4. The last step is to pay the admission fee.

Sasmira’s Institute of Design and Textile Exam Pattern 

Sasmira’s Institute of Design and Textiles (SIDT) conducts an entrance examination for admission into its design programs called GICED. 

The exam comprises two main components:

  1. Online Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs): This section assesses candidates on various topics relevant to design and textiles.
  2. Drawing Examination: This practical segment evaluates the candidate’s drawing skills and creativity.

The total marks for the entrance exam are 100.

Sasmira’s Institute of Design and Textile Selection Process 2025

The selection process at the institute includes the following steps:

  • Candidates are required to appear for the entrance exam called GICED.
  • Further interview rounds will be held based upon the type of course you want to take admission in. 
  • In some courses, the admission is direct and does not require any entrance exam or interview. 
  • Shortlisted candidates are notified and are enrolled into the program upon successful payment of the admission fees.
