Ranked as 7th among all fashion designing colleges by India Today in 2024, the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Kolkata is one of the best universities for pursuing a Bachelor of Design or other courses. It offers Master of Design, Leather Design, Textile Design, Fashion Communication, Accessory Design, and Retail Design. NIFT Kolkata Admission Process 2025
The process for the NIFT Entrance Exam began on November 22, 2024, with the launch of online applications. The last date to apply is February 28, 2025. This process may extend until June 2025, when all seats are expected to be allotted tentatively for the Bachelor of Design programme. Candidates can apply for admission while sitting at home, to apply online, follow these steps:
Step 1: Register using your personal email ID and mobile number. Note down the system-generated application number.
Step 2: Complete the online application form and note the system-generated application number. Upload the required documents
Step 3: Pay the prescribed fee via Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or UPI, and keep proof of payment for future reference.
NIFT Kolkata Designing Eligibility
The eligibility criteria for Bachelor of Design can vary. A candidate can be passed from 12th grade by any board as well as have a pass grade in the secondary school examination. Likewise, candidates can have G.C.E. examination at the advanced level for students coming from London, Cambridge, or Sri Lanka. If the candidate is fulfilling any of the criteria given below in the table, they are eligible for the course.
However, if Bachelor of Design is pursued with artisans, they have specific requirements such as a valid Artisan Card issued to themselves or their father/mother by the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts or Handlooms).

| A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects. |
| 3 or 4 years diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education after the secondary examination/10th standard. |
| Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to the 10+2 system. |
| GCE Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level or International Baccalaureate (IB). |
NIFT Kolkata Fees Designing
Every year in NIFT, there is an increment in fees. In 2025, the fees have increased once again. In the first year, candidates can expect to pay around ₹3,40,000, while in the second year, it may drop to ₹3,20,000. These are the basic fees paid by everyone; however, hostel fees are additional.

NIFT Admission Schedule
The online applications for the NIFT entrance exam are currently live. Candidates can fill them out and start preparing for the exam, which is tentatively scheduled to be conducted from March to April.

NIFT Kolkata Placements
NIFT Kolkata Recruitment is managed by a strong placement cell. As per the latest data available, the highest salary package offered was Rs 8.20 LPA. Likewise, the average package offered to Bachelor of Fashion Technology in Apparel Production graduates ranged between Rs 3.5 LPA and Rs 4 LPA.
NIFT Selection Process
The NIFT selection process highly depends on the number of seats available and the program offered. Currently, NIFT Kolkata is offering seven undergraduate programs. Likewise, the current seat availability for PG programs is 35. Candidates may consider factors such as location, ranking, and entrance exam scores to decide on their course.
