MITID Entrance Exam 2025

The MITID Entrance Exam is a two-phase process for admissions into B.Des and M.Des programs at MIT Institute of Design across various campuses which include phases of a written exam and an interview process:

Phase 1: MITID CET: It Shortlists candidates for Phase 2. Conducted for B.Des and M.Des programs at various test centers across India.

Phase 2: Studio Test & Interview: Held at MITID Pune campus Includes a studio test and personal interview.

MITID Eligibility Criteria 2025

Candidates who want to follow through with their journey with MITID must know about the minimum requirements to get an admission in the MIT Institute of Design. Given below is the eligibility criteria for the same :

MITID Admission Procedure 2025

  • Online Registration Form: The student fills out an online registration form.
  • Register for MITID DET: Register for the MITID DET exam using your email ID and mobile number on www.mitidindia.com.
  • Automated Verification Link: An automated verification link will be sent to your registered email ID. Activate your account by clicking the link.
  • Pay Fee: Pay the fee of ₹3000 for Indian nationals and ₹4500 for NRI & Foreign Nationals.
  • Provide Required Details: Provide the required details in the application form and upload the necessary documents.
  • Accept Declaration & Submit: Accept the declaration and submit the online application form.
  • Admit Card Generation: On scrutiny, verification, and acceptance of the application form, the admit card will be generated and sent to the candidate’s registered email ID.

MITID Exam Pattern and Syllabus

It includes multiple-choice questions (MCQs) which will appear on the computer screen on a random basis. Candidates have to mark the one correct answer on the computer screen. 

Phase 1: MITID Common Entrance Test (MITID CET)

There is no fixed MITID exam pattern regarding the number of questions but the type of questions that will be asked in the design entrance exam mainly aim at evaluating the below-mentioned skills of candidates:

Exam Structure:

  • Creative Thinking: Evaluate imagination, innovation, and originality.
  • Design Problem Solving: Assess analytical thinking, problem identification, and solution-oriented strategies.
  • Observation Skills: Test keen perception and attention to detail.
  • General Aptitude: Includes logical reasoning, verbal ability, and visual interpretation.
  • Material Exploration: Assess the ability to work with materials creatively.

Required Materials:

  • Drawing tools: Color pencils, crayons, poster colors, acrylic colors, and paintbrushes.
  • Cutting and pasting tools: Scissors, glue stick, Fevicol, Fevikwik/Fevibond, adhesive tape.
  • Other items: Geometric set, stapler, cutter, permanent markers (minimum 4 colors).

Syllabus Highlights:

  • Basics of design principles (color, form, function, and composition).
  • Problem-solving through design.
  • Visualizing and creating solutions for given scenarios.
  • Sketching, drawing fundamentals, and 3D visualization.

Phase 2: Studio Test and Personal Interview

For Studio Test,  candidates are expected to reach the university campus on the specified date and time. Candidates are advised to carry their ID proof, hall ticket, and a copy of the DAT result. Besides, they should carry the following while coming to the campus:

Studio Test

  • Tasks involving drawing, sketching, and material manipulation.
  • Creative tasks requiring poster colors, acrylic paints, and other listed tools.
  • Problem-solving through prototypes or conceptual models.

Personal Interview

  • Portfolio review: Candidates present and explain their work samples.
  • Assessment of communication skills (verbal and non-verbal).
  • Evaluation of curiosity, empathy, teamwork, and tenacity.

Required Materials:

  • All items listed for Phase 1.
  • Portfolio and work samples showcasing creativity, skills, and projects.
  • ID proof, hall ticket, and CET result.
