Footwear Design and Development Institute BDes Admission Process: Eligibility, Exam Pattern, and Selection Process

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India established Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI) in 1986. The institution is a government-run institute in India. FDDI organises AIST every year to admit students. This year AIST is scheduled on 11th May 2025. In this blog we are going to discuss Footwear Design and Development Institute’s admission process, eligibility criteria, fee structure, exam pattern and selection process.
FDDI Admission Process
Candidates have to apply online through the application portal for admission in 2025. The fee can also be paid through an online payment gateway. The Footwear Design and Development Institute BDes admission fee structure is divided into two categories. The application fee for General/OBC/GEN-EWS candidates will be Rs. 600, while for SC/ST/PWD candidates, it will be Rs. 300. The fee will remain non refundable. Any additional bank charges will be borne by the candidates themselves.
Candidates should keep a printout or photocopy of the application form for future reference, along with proof of payment. Prior to making the payment, candidates can edit or amend the information in the online application. However, once the payment has been made, no changes or modifications will be allowed.

FDDI Admission Schedule
The online application for AIST 2025 is currently live. The last date for online submission of the application is 20th April 2025. However, with a late fee candidates can also complete the application process by 30th April 2025. The admission counselling will conclude on 15th July 2025. FDDI BDes Eligibility
The minimum eligibility to do bachelors of Design is to be qualified from 12th grade in any discipline from a recognised state or central board. The additional details regarding FDDI admission eligibility is described as below:

(b) | Any School/Board/University examination in India or abroad recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 |

(d) | AICTE-approved three-year full-time Diploma after Class X from any State/UT Board of Technical Education |
Provisional Admission | Candidates awaiting results can apply, but they must submit their final result by 30th September 2025. Failure to do so may result in admission cancellation and fee forfeiture. |

Footwear Design and Development Institute Fees Structure
FDDI has released the fee structure for the upcoming batch of Bachelor of Design. FDDI Noida courses include the bachelor of design programme in specialisations of fashion design and product, fashion design, design in leather lifestyle and product design. FDDI Exam Pattern
The AIST exam is conducted to assess candidates’ analytical aptitude, business aptitude, design aptitude, general awareness, English comprehension, and grammar usage through multiple sections. FDDI Selection Process
The exam will be conducted in multiple cities throughout India, including FDDI campuses. Candidates may have the opportunity to visit an FDDI campus if their examination center is in a related city. Candidates are advised to select an examination center that is near their location as well as easily accessible by transportation, as the admission portal has restrictions regarding changes in examination centers.
