How To Avail Fee Waivers and Scholarships in Government Fashion Designing Institutes

The cost of studying in top fashion designing institutes is not affordable for many students. So, to not let money become a barrier in studying at these top colleges, these colleges and the government offer various fee waivers and scholarships to students. Read this article to know about the scholarships available at the best fashion designing colleges in India, NIFT and NID.
“Sarthak” NIFT Financial Assistance Scheme
The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) introduced this scheme in 2023 with the aim to ensure that students are not deprived of education at NIFT for financial reasons, particularly students belonging to economically weaker sections of society.
PROVISION OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
For UG Students

Application process
- Students having parental income/total family income up to Rupees 8 Lakhs per annum, as declared at the time of admission, will be able to access the Application on CMS.
- The Form will not be accessed by other students.
- In any case, however, if the parental income/ total family income has changed during the period while the student is still studying at NIFT and his parental income now falls within the bracket of SARTHAK eligibility conditions, the student will have to meet the CAC of the Campus and provide justification with proper documentation.
- The complete application of SARTHAK on the CMS should include the following: Personal Details, Parental Income, Uploading Financial Documents
- All mandatory documents will be required to be uploaded by the students at the time of form filling.
- The applicants will have to give an undertaking regarding the information being provided in the form.
Mandatory Documents
- The Income and Asset Certificate.
- ITR of the last three years.
- Proof of permanent residence of the student (Adhaar/Passport/Voter ID)
- Photocopies PAN card of parents/guardian and applicant.
- School leaving certificate for classes X and XII (proof of school fee, wherever possible).
- The copy of the receipt of the tuition fee, if paid, for the ongoing semester.
- Undertaking from the parent regarding the contents of the SARTHAK Application and the documents submitted.
NID (National Institute Of Design)
For new admission
Scholarship is provided to students with top ranks. The scholarship amount is Rs. 50,000. The students are made aware of the procedure at the time of admission.
For 2nd year
- The two top rank students of 1st year based on the AGPA of the institute get scholarships of Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 30,000.
- The students who have passed the maximum number of courses in the first attempt or second attempt with valid reason and foundation year would be awarded the scholarship.
- A student who has higher open rank in the NID admission exam will be eligible for the scholarship.
- Students who have scored a rank within the top 25% of the whole batch of the foundation year and fulfil the eligibility criteria prescribed for the EWS category are eligible for a scholarship amount of Rs 30,000.
