What is UID DAT?
It conducts the UID Design Aptitude Test (DAT), a competitive exam to assess a candidate’s creativity, problem-solving ability, and design aptitude for admission into its programs. The exam is taken into two phases the details of those phases are:
- Phase 1 is the Design Aptitude Test, which evaluates candidates on their General IQ, Critical Analysis, and Creative Ability through a 100-mark written exam.
- Phase 2 focuses on a Creative Situation Test, followed by a Personal Interview and Portfolio Review to assess the candidate’s creativity, problem-solving skills, and overall design potential.
The exam consists of two phases namely written exam(DAT) and Creative Situation Test + Personal Interview & Portfolio Review. Acing this exam is necessary for getting into the university.

UID Application Process
- Visit the official UID website and click on ‘Apply Now’.
- Register by filling in the required details and clicking ‘Sign Up’.
- Log in to your account to complete the application form. If applying offline, download and print the form instead.
- Fill out the form with the required details.
- Upload or attach necessary documents, such as a passport-size photograph and scanned signature.
- Pay the application fee online (via debit/credit card or net banking) or offline (by attaching the payment slip).
- Submit the application form online or send the completed form and documents via post to the institute.

- Bachelor’s degree certificate and marksheet (if applicable)

UID Exam Pattern
Students are advised to sit in a well-lit, enclosed room where they are clearly visible to the invigilator. To avoid disruptions, they should position themselves near the Wi-Fi router or modem and ensure their laptop is fully charged to handle any unexpected power outages.
