NIFT Delhi Admissions: Eligibility, Exam Pattern, and Important Dates

NIFT Delhi has held the first position in all the fashion design courses in India for the last four years as per India Today rankings. The National Institute of Fashion Technology, Delhi, has become a reputed institution to study and apply for a Bachelor’s in B.Des. In this article, candidates will be able to know the eligibility, exam pattern, and important dates for NIFT Delhi admission. We will be covering the admission process, how to apply, the fees, counseling, exam dates, etc.
NIFT Delhi Admission Process 2025
Bachelor of Design can be pursued from NIFT Delhi through the national exam, ‘Design Aptitude Test’ (DAT). To apply, candidates must complete the application form following the guidelines and take the respective General Ability Test (GAT) and Creative Ability Test (CAT) to get shortlisted. The entrance examination is followed by a Situation Test.
Additionally, if a candidate is applying as an artisan for the Bachelor of Design, there is also a Skill Test worth 70 marks, followed by a Personal Interview worth 30 marks. Once the candidate has taken the exam, they can verify answers using the provisional answer sheet. If any discrepancies are found, they can be challenged by payment of Rs 200 per question as a non-refundable processing fee. Once candidates clear all the stages, they should wait for the cutoff. NIFT Delhi Eligibility 2025
To be eligible for NIFT B.Des, candidates must meet at least one of the criteria outlined in the table below. This can include passing Class 12 from a recognized board or clearing the GCI examination at the advanced level. Ensure you refer to the table for detailed eligibility requirements:

Passed the 10+2 level examination from any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination (e.g., CBSE, State Board, or Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi). |
A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects. |
3 or 4 years diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education after the secondary examination/10th standard. |
Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to the 10+2 system. |
GCE Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level or International Baccalaureate (IB). |
If the candidate is applying for bachelors of design artisans they should also submit a valid Artisan Card issued to themselves or their father/mother by the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts or Handlooms). Alternatively, candidates who have applied for the Artisan Card before the release of the Admissions Prospectus 2025, i.e., 22 November 2024, are also eligible.
NIFT Delhi Admission Dates 2025
The NIFT admission process can take up to 8 months. Applications are live, starting from November 22, 2024, and seat allocation will be completed by June 2025. For details, refer to the table below:

NIFT Delhi Online Application
Candidates can apply for admission while sitting at home, to apply online, follow these steps:
Step 1: Register using your personal email ID and mobile number. Note down the system-generated application number.
Step 2: Complete the online application form and note the system-generated application number. Upload the following scanned documents:
- Candidate’s photograph (JPG, size: 10 kb–200 kb)
- Candidate’s signature (JPG, size: 4 kb–30 kb)
- Verified Result Awaited Attestation Form (PDF, size: 50 kb–500 kb)
- Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS, if applicable) (PDF, size: 50 kb–300 kb)
- PwD/UDID certificate (if applicable) (PDF, size: 50 kb–300 kb)
Step 3: Pay the prescribed fee via Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or UPI, and keep proof of payment for future reference.
Candidates can complete all three steps in one go or save progress after each step and continue later. Since, NIFT exam 2025 will be held in various cities. Candidates must select four preferences, but a different city may be assigned for logistical reasons.
Seat Matrix in NIFT Delhi 2025
Once you cross the cutoff stage, keep in mind that different colleges have different seat availability. The admission cut-off of NIFT 2025 will be prepared based on the final merit after considering the following points:
- The total number of applicants
- The category-wise seat intake
- The total number of application
- Previous years’ cut-off criteria
